In total, Backstone State Park boasts over 21 miles of single-track hiking trails, but if you are really going to enjoy the area, it is important to traverse the trail that takes you to the summit of one of the highest points in the state, offering some of the best views you will ever see from the Hawkeye State. The summit is located at 7,835 feet above sea level, so you know that you're in some pretty deep woods. From here you can hike all the way down to the beach and back again, enjoying the scenery and weather conditions as you travel the path. It is well worth it, because the views from the top of this mountain are simply breathtaking!

This spot is also the perfect place to hike because it is surrounded by nature, which makes it beautiful year round. As you trek across the entire park, you will notice that each section of land is different, with the same old trees that you used to pass by being replaced with beautiful new ones. You will also notice that the terrain around you change each day as you move from one section to the next, with some sections being much better than others, so you should be able to find something that will fit your personal style.

If you want to check out the trail that takes you down to the beach, then you may want to head back to Backbone State Park to see if you can find any signs that tell you where the beach is. The beach is actually located just off of Highway 75, so it won't be difficult for you to find it. The trail is made up of several steps that lead you back into the woods, where you will find the trail begins and ends. If you're looking for a little bit more solitude, you may want to hike a few more miles down, as you will soon begin to see a beautiful forest on the left, before you reach the beach.

If you would like to take a little further of an adventure, you can try hiking the trail that takes you all the way down to the beaches of Hawkeye Lake. and back again. This trail is a little harder to navigate than the other trails in Iowa, so if you haven't hiked this area before, it might take you a little time to get used to the terrain, but once you do, you will enjoy the beauty and serenity that the area provides.

If you have never been to Hawkeye Lake before, I highly recommend that you visit this beautiful area when you're in the Hawkeye Lake region and see for yourself. If you want a relaxing, scenic and fun-filled stay in Iowans, I would suggest doing what the pros do and making the drive to the lake.
